Location : Queen’s University Biological Station, on Lake Opinicon near Chaffey’s Locks, 50 km north of Kingston, ON
Cost :

$900.00           (Deposit $250.00 + Balance $650.00 due at time of course)

This registration fee will provide housing, three meals a day and local transportation. You must bring your own sleeping bag, flashlight, towel etc, field clothes for warm as well as cold weather, rain gear, rubber boots, insect repellent, a good quality notebook, and your assigned reading plus any visual displays that you want to present in your seminar.
Prerequisites : Second year standing in a Biology Program
Description : The purpose of this module is to learn modern fisheries theory and “hands-on” techniques in a field setting. In terms of theory, students will learn basic principles of fisheries biology, as well as current issues affecting regional and national fisheries. The hands-on aspect of the course will focus on current techniques used by researchers, as well as government agencies (e.g. OMNR) to study local fish communities. If time permits, students may get involved in individual, or small group, research projects during the second week of the course.
