Excludes travel to and from Calgary. Includes room and board at the Barrier Lake Field Station and all local transportation from Calgary

Prerequisites : Two courses in Biology
Description :

The flora and fauna of subalpine and alpine environments.  Activities will include several day visits to different alpine areas as well as insect collecting and small mammal trapping in a number of specific habitats.  Comparisons over elevational gradients and adaptations to alpine environments will be emphasized.  Students will do an independent field project involving data collection during the final week of the course, with the final report submitted 4 weeks after the course.

Note:    This course requires considerable travel on foot. You will be required to be on your feet, walking on rough terrain, in all weather, all day long. If you can’t handle this, please don’t sign up!  
Suitable footwear is required.
